About
I'm Ned, a potter based in Perth, Western Australia. I work out of a small home studio where I throw, trim, glaze, and fire everything by hand.
My work is focused on functional forms — the kind of things you reach for every morning. Mugs, bowls, and cups that fit comfortably in the hand and develop a patina through use.
Most pieces are one of a kind. Natural variation in clay, glaze, and the kiln means no two are exactly alike, which is exactly the point.
The process
Each piece starts on the wheel with locally sourced stoneware clay. After throwing, pieces dry slowly before being trimmed and refined. Glazes are mixed in the studio — many developed through years of testing in an electric kiln fired to 1280°C.
